Chimney Tops is a very popular hike in the Smokies and may be very crowded during the summer and fall months. Spring is a great time to hike and see the array of wildflowers. Winter is also a great time for this hike, less people and clearer days for more of a long range view. The hike is short but the climb is continuous until the top. If you are an Ohio State fan, this hike will take you by many Yellow Buckeye trees, find that lucky buckeye in the fall that will get OSU over the hump. Newfound Gap Road or Clingman Dome Road can be used for starting points.
